A block of Tallow made from our wild venison fat. This block is frozen to maintain freshness for up to 2 years. Just defrost when you are ready to use and keep in the fridge for up to 12 months.
Each block is at least 60g of pure tallow refined with heat and salt to remove impurities.
Packaged in our compostable plant based PLA vacuum packaging.
This tallow is 100% edible and great to use as a cooking fat in place of lard or oil.
Benefits of Tallow
Deer fat is high in omega-3 fatty acids, it has very high amounts of stearic acid, it has been shown to reduce bad cholesterol levels and it contains good saturated fats that raise the good cholesterol in our bodies.
Venison Tallow contains vitamin D which is fantastic for bone health and vitamin A, which supports healthy skin, eyesight and teeth. The high saturated fat content (50%) of tallow means these fat-soluble vitamins will also be better absorbed into the body.
The most common use of tallow is as a cooking fat. This is because it has a high smoke point (around 249 C, higher than goose fat which is around 190C) which means that it can withstand high cooking temperatures without oxidizing and becoming rancid making it perfect for roast spuds.
And of course, it’s wild, ethically sourced and not farmed so you get peace of mind too.
